Spike Jonze
I know his real name, and it's not the moniker he's signed to his photos. Spike Jonze, the hot-shot movie director, came from skateboarding. Before he moved on to MTV and Hollywood, Spike's photos graced the pages of this magazine in the early 90s. His photos had a unique look to them, you could always pick out a Spike photo from a non-Spike photo. His creative use of the fisheye and his lighting technique set him apart from the rest of the photo clones (me included). I have two Fed-Ex boxes sitting in my office that we draw a photo from now and then. Here are a few tasty morsels for you to peep.
