Pro Pick Of The Month: CKY, a.k.a. "The Camp" "Because CKY will rock you like a hurricane, and it makes you want to barge a gap that's too big to land," according to Bam. 2Pac+Outlawz Just listen to it. Mouse On Mars Atiba dreams about this Mars band while he shoots photos 37 hours a day. DMX "DMX manages to dump extended drop clips of lyrics with a flow and unique style that screams louder than the other fakers." This is part of Shad's review I cut because it sucked. No, not really, just not the format this issue. The Chameleons, Script Of The Bridge, Static Records This CD is being reviewed so Shad can say, "This whole layout is Tania's excuse to do less work." Damn, that kid just started and he's in everyone face¿maybe if he helped me a little ... He can't stop playing video games on his new little-bitch iMac, and tells me over and over again he has 32 more megs of RAM than I do. Mudhoney How about something else I cut? This quote here is part of Dave Swift's Mudhoney review, "Self-titled Mudhoney and 1991's Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge were f¿king masterpieces." Look for the rest of Dave's review on the Web site skateboarding.transworld.net. Ui This band is rad. They were more than happy to give us rights to their music for our skateboarding videos. Ask Ty and Jon, the masters behind the cinematography that make you wish you could really skateboard. Dinosaur Jr. Well, it's all old stuff, but I don't have anything new from them to throw in here. Reel Big Fish, Everything Sucks yeah, we know. This CD has been thrown in only because there're other people out there who love music I hate. Prmlscrm, Xtrmntr, Astralwerks Fran knew these guys (Primal Scream) from back in the day, and he says they're "great." I just like them because they don't give a shit about the correct use of the English Language. Then Joel, in an indirect way, told me he was bummed that he didn't get a mention¿but no harm intended. And you should know Joel is a Phish fan. A few months ago, he hippied out and went to a couple of Phish shows in Southern California. I guess he loved the shows, but not enough to become one of the non-showering hippie Phish worshippers. Tash, Raplife, Loud Records You should buy this, too, and drive around feelin' real ill, yo. We're down for Loud Records around here, even though we can't ever get a hold of them. But now Girlie Action, they're always hooking us up. They just sent me a package with a few CDs, including Apollo Four Forty, Gettin' High On Your Own Supply High. Brassic Beats USA, A Skint Compilation was included in the package, too. Now I'll tell you that the real music guru around here is Kevin Imamura; he knows about good music coming out that hasn't even been thought of yet. So I always call him. Actually, let me rephrase myself, I always bug the hell out of him asking him about new music. He really likes this new Brassic Beats USA compilation, so it must be damn good. And how about one more music guru? Swift just listened to Pedro The Lion and Turing Machine, both on Jade Tree Records last night and said they're good. He's always complaining about how new music sucks, and old music is where it's at, so if he likes these CDs, then you better believe they're worth listening to. Heavy Metal 2000 Here's what the press release says: "The animated sequel to the first Heavy Metal film, which premiered over two decades ago." Most of you weren't even alive that long ago, I was four, but this CD includes a few legendary bands you should know about: Monster Magnet, Queens of the Stone Age, Pantera, and Bauhaus. Love it or leave it. Restless records sent us this. And let's just change the subject before the end of this paragraph¿remember the Volume Y2K contest a couple issues ago? No one guessed what was wrong with Volume. Just so you know, four of the bands were fake. We made them up 'cause we were bored.¿Tania
