I've said it before, but Daewon Song is by far one of the best follows on TikTok, whether you skate or not! And, well, the guy loves a puddled skatepark.
The video below starts out with some classic Daewon wizardry. Blunt kickflip fakie, pops out of the bowl...so far, so good. I'm hooked. But what happens next is not what most people would expect (ha!)
We see him screech into a powerslide and there's the pole and hook. Then he picks up a Tech Deck and we notice it's attached. All the while, the bottom half of the Alondra skatepark is flooded with brown water—lots of it! A pond full. Then seconds later, there's the fish, and he's holding his proud catch with a smile plastered on his face like any fisherman would.
He hashtags #peoplewillsayitsfake and in all honesty, I'm still not sure if I'm one of those people or not. Is the fish fake? Does he hook it during those few seconds he's out of frame? Was it just in his pocket or something? How'd it get there in the first place?
It's all pretty funny. A part of this is obviously planned and staged, but I mean...I've watched it a few times and still don't know. I was expecting more debate in the comments as well, but everyone just seems content with the simple entertainment of the video. Fair enough!
"Catch and release, though," he laughs at the end of the video, wrapping up his bizarre line. I guess that fish just belongs to the park now. Regardless...this is great. Thanks for always keeping it fun, Daewon!
