Girl Skateboards Officially Retires Mike Mo Pro Model Decks

Mike Mo recently took to Instagram to announce the release of his final pro model board with Girl Skateboards—bittersweet news for anyone who has followed his epic journey on the board over the years. The dude had an impressive run. And even though it ended sooner than any of us would have hoped, sometimes that's just how the cookie crumbles.

He's going out like a true gentleman, though, and his final board is a must-have for any and all Mike Mo fans out there. A mandatory addition to any collection! Take a look:

"16 years ago, I was lucky enough to live out my dream of being a professional skateboarder and turn pro for my favorite company," Mike wrote on Instagram. "10 years ago on this exact day is when that dream of being a pro skateboarder came to an end. I had a tragic accident that caused nerve damage in my foot which caused me to retire at the age of 24."

As many of you know, Girl has continued to keep various Mike Mo pro models in their line for many years since his injury, but the day has finally come—they're closing the chapter and officially retiring his board.

"In 2020, I told them that we should make one last board, which we originally planned to drop it in 2022," Mike added in the post. "But after production was already printed we decided last second to hold it for the 10 year anniversary. And today is that day.... fucking crazy."

The boards are available on @abdcollectibles and are certainly considered a collector's item, if you ask me.

Mike Mo's career was impressive, to say the least. Unarguably one of the best of his generation, so many of his tricks and clips from yesteryear are still impressive to this day. Every one of his video parts blew minds and it's a genuine shame his career was cut short so soon, but he made his mark in the skateboarding world and will always be remembered as one of the greats.

There's some serious emotion to be seen weaving through the comments on the post—a solid blend of reflection, nostalgia and countless folks sharing their own personal memories of Mike and how his skateboarding inspired and influenced them all the same.

Call it the end, or call it the beginning—your choice. But congrats to Mike on this admirable exit either way. Go put on your favorite Mike Mo video part today and hit the streets today. Yeah, Mike!
