There are certainly more than a handful of moments in skateboarding that are truly timeless, and more often than not, we can thank our favorite photographers and videographers for that.
Nixon recently linked up with photographer Matt Price, longtime Nixon rider Zach Miller and the legend himself, J. Grant Brittain to recreate one of Grant's most iconic skate photos of all time—the Pole Cam Shot of Chris Miller (Zach's dad) at the original Combi Pool in Upland, CA.
Like father like son? Yep! This is so rad. Take a look:
A little backstory from Nixon:
"For the introduction of our new Fisheye Collection, we tapped skateboarding's reigning king of fisheye photography, Matt Price and long time Nixon team rider Zach Miller to recreate Brittain's iconic photo (with his supervision) of Zach's dad, Chris Miller. Since the original Combi Pool in Upland, CA is no longer there, we gathered the crew together and headed out to La Quinta, CA where a nearly exact replica sits at their skatepark."
As Pricey mentions in the video, I've always been a fan of this JGB photo as well, and at the time, the "Pole Cam" concept was actually pretty groundbreaking in the world of skate photography. Or, at the very least, different.
If you ask me, this project was more than just a creative way to shine some light on a new watch collection. It's a celebration of skateboarding—both past and present—photography, and that timeless style that few possess, but we all want. (Yeah, I'm talking about you Miller boys!)
Will Zach and Matt's recreation stand the test of time as well? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Either way, I love that they did this!
