Mike York Lights Up the Streets in 'Petty Crime: A VX Story'

Mike York in Petty Crime A VX Story

More heat continues to roll out from Brett Sube’s latest video project, Petty Crime: A VX Story, and Mike York’s part was an absolute standout, if you ask me.

York has always had that rare mix of style, power, and personality, and I've always been a huge fan of his skating. Seeing him do his thing in 2025 is an absolute treat. He’s firing on all cylinders here and still stepping to the streets with class and taste. Take a look:

The first half of the part is absolutely ripping, but things really start to heat up towards the end. The dude is a clip-stacking machine nonetheless, and his energy—on and off the board—is as infectious as ever.

Aside from Mike's part, the video featured full parts from Sebo Walker, JJ Rice, Brett Sube, Brian Baca, and TJ Rogers, alongside appearances from a stacked lineup including: Daniel Castillo, Spencer Fujimoto, Danny Hamaguchi, Lucas Puig, Yaje Popson, Walker Ryan, Jordan Maxham, Paul Hart, Torey Pudwill, Dave Bachinsky, and many more. (Peep Brett's part below!)

All shot through the lens of Sube's trusty VX1000, diehard standard-def enthusiasts will certainly appreciate the entire project. In fact, Brett made a bunch of DVDs that you should all add to your quiver—cop yours here. Again, check Brett's part above. And definitely check out TJ Rogers' part from the project below.

About Petty Crime: A VX Story

“Petty Crime: A VX Story is a full-length, independent skate film capturing the raw energy and grit of the West Coast skate scene. Filmed and edited by Brett Sube, the video chronicles sessions from the streets of Los Angeles, CA, up through Portland, OR, and into Snohomish, WA — showcasing the diversity and depth of modern street skating.

Shot entirely on the iconic Sony VX1000 and DJI Mavic Mini 2, and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, Petty Crime pairs a nostalgic VX aesthetic with a fresh, modern edge — all driven by a full custom score by Nick James. The result is a raw and authentic portrayal of West Coast skateboarding and the independent spirit that keeps it alive.”
