I've said it before and I'll say it again—there is no shortage of talented skateboarders out there these days. Too many to count! And in that mix is Japanese powerhouse Toa Sasaki.
Honestly, though, calling him “part of the mix” almost undersells it. Watching him skate, it's clear Toa stands out. He's powerful, he skates fast, and he has a deep bag of tricks for all types of terrain. The dude just rips. Simple as that. And that's exactly why we're here.
Monster Energy recently bumped Toa up from the "Monster Army" to a legit spot on their global skate team, breaking down the move in their latest Ranking Up installment. Take a look:
"18-year-old Toa Sasaki, from Mie, Japan is an absolute force," Monster Army mentioned on YouTube. "Between multiple major podiums, becoming a World Champion and hammering down on classic SoCal skate spots with NBDs, Toa Sasaki has been on a mission these past few years. Toa knows no chill when he is on the board. Toa is now officially part of Monster Energy’s global skate team roster, and we couldn’t be happier for him!"
A spot on the Monster squad is no small feat and this seems like a natural next step for Toa. His resume speaks for itself, and at just 18 years young, I'd say the future is bright as hell for this hungry up-and-comer.
It certainly doesn't hurt to have someone like Nyjah handpick you to ride for his board brand, either. All the pieces seem to be falling into place for Toa right now, and we love to see it. He's been on our radar for years and I know we'll be seeing plenty more of him in the years to come. This really is just the beginning. Yeah, Toa!
