Our friends at Push Skateshop and Brainstorm Skateboards just dropped Incarnation, a full-length video shot entirely at Asheville’s iconic Foundation DIY. Much more than just another skate edit, the project is a celebration of community, commitment, and time spent building something real from the ground up. The cherry on top? It also celebrates 20 years of Push and 10 years of Brainstorm. That's huge!
I was fortunate enough to visit Asheville's Foundation DIY a few years back for a Nike SB trip and was stoked to hang with all the locals, including Eric Hunt who shot and directed the video. Eric is one of the coolest dudes in the game and is a major staple in the Asheville scene. He's always up to something rad, and Incarnation is no exception. This rules! Press play:
About the project:
Filmer/director, Eric Hunt and editor, Luke Broussard, also long time team riders and former employees of PUSH, set out with this project to pay tribute to the FOUNDY’s many different incarnations and community collaborations. Featuring a reimagining of the VX1000, hi-8, and 8mm footage previously used in ten edits from BRAINSTORM/PUSH over the last decade.
This new view of Asheville, North Carolina’s renowned River Arts District skatepark and its history, helps to put into perspective the work that goes into building, skating, documenting and collectively creating such a special place in the skateboarding and arts community. PUSH Skateshop has been the heart and soul of the FOUNDY, along with the skate scene it continues to serve for some many folks.
The Asheville scene has been through a lot over the past year. The aftermath of Hurricane Helene was devastating, but this is one of the most resilient crews out there. They’ve been rebuilding, supporting one another, and showing just how powerful a real community can be—one that stretches far beyond skateboarding.
All I can say is this edit got me stoked. I loved my time in Asheville and really felt the energy of its scene the entire time I was there. Push Skateshop is as pure and raw as they come. Brainstorm Skateboards is 100% for the purists in all the best ways. And I'm thrilled to see Foundation DIY looking as dope as ever.
Shoutout to Eric and all the skaters, builders, artists—everyone. Keep the stoke alive!
