Our friends at Skateistan are urgently asking for support to help keep its programs running across 50+ locations worldwide, including Afghanistan, South Africa, and Cambodia. For the first time ever, they’re facing potential cutbacks instead of growth as their NEVER STOP PUSHING fundraising campaign "hits a critical halfway point," a recent press release mentioned.
What started in 2008 at a destroyed fountain in Kabul has grown into a full-on, worldwide movement. For 18 years, Skateistan has created safe, creative spaces for kids to learn, skate, and ultimately build brighter futures.
We've been huge fans and supporters from day one and hate to see them struggling. At the moment, Skateistan still needs to raise over $300,000 to reach its end-of-year target.

"At Skateistan we’re very familiar with uncertainty and overcoming adversity. When the Taliban took over in 2021 we persevered to keep providing programs for girls and boys in three Afghan cities with barely a pause,” Oliver Percovich, Founder and Co-Executive Director of Skateistan mentioned in a recent press release.
“But today, we are facing one of the most urgent moments in our history. We are calling on our global community, donors, collaborators, and friends to help us close this urgent funding gap. Every contribution, big or small, keeps these spaces alive.”

Similar issues seem to be affecting the entire nonprofit world right now, which is why Skateistan—like many others—is calling on its supporters to keep its program partnerships running.
Skateistan invites supporters worldwide to join the movement and Become a Citizen of Skateistan, the NGO’s monthly giving community, or to make a one-time donation.
