Strangest Skate Spot Ever: Florida's Splendid China Abandoned Amusement Park

Splendid China

Our buddy Joe Perrin looks like he's set to kill it in the Youtube world if this video is any indicator. Take a wild trip back through time in Florida as Joe recounts, with incredible detail and investigative work, one of the weirdest skate spots there ever was: An abandoned, China-themed amusement park. Dive into this rad episode to find out all about it:

From Joe's description: "Back in the late 2000s, we stumbled into one of the strangest skate spots I’ve ever filmed at — Splendid China, a $100 million abandoned theme park in Kissimmee, Florida. Originally built to showcase miniature replicas of China’s landmarks — from the Great Wall to the Terracotta Army — Splendid China shut down in the early 2000s after controversy, protests, and low attendance. What was left behind became a dream spot for skateboarders, filmmakers, and anyone willing to hop a fence. In this video, I share the story of skating this forgotten park, filming parts of Last of the Mohicans here, and the tricks, memories, and chaos that went down — from 80’s Joe Staley’s massive switch heel to Clark Hassler’s unforgettable rage scream inside an abandoned security office. If you’re into skateboarding, abandoned places, or Florida’s weird history, this one’s for you."

We'll always remember Joe as one of the epic cinematographers from Santa Cruz's winning Skate & Create video:
