A 90,000-square-foot skatepark California Skateparks designed and built in Sharjah, UAE for the World Skate Championships was just constructed. "But as soon as the pros head home next week, it'll be there for the kids, doing what skateparks do—giving them a place to build their own community and experience the fun, freedom, and creativity that is skateboarding."—Miki Vuckovich
By now you've probably seen some of the incredible clips coming out of the UAE this week as many pros have descended on the Middle East for this big contest. It's always a nice gesture when leaving the park behind for the locals is part of the benefit of hosting a comp.
The World Skate 2022 World Championships is a key qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. While the Street skaters have already competed in one qualifier in Rome last Summer, for the Park skaters, Sharjah will be their first chance to earn points to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Check out Netherland's Candy Jacobs having fun with her crew.
