The Look On His Face Says Everything! Even He's Surprised As He Rolls Away

Tricks like this often catch my attention not only because of the simple obscurity of them, but because of how well these people do them! There's nothing simple about this trick from Weslley Alves, yet he does it so naturally.

That said, he does look extremely surprised as he rolls away. But maybe, as mentioned above, it's just because even he can't believe how well he just did what he did. Just watch...

The fakie-roll-away-camera-staredown is pretty damn funny, to be honest. He's a perfect stranger to me, but for some reason, I just feel excited for him as he casually rolls backwards after such a heavy feat. No clue how many tries it took, nor if a heavy battle ensued, but his expression tells us plenty.

One comment says, "Jason Ridgeway (Melbourne, Australia) used do this in the 90s about 2 feet out of a 6 foot 1/4." So out of respect for Jason Ridgeway, props are deserved. And now, over a decade later, in a random pocket of skateboarding, a younger generation is either finding inspiration from the past or taking a similar approach to these wild tricks without even realizing it.

At the end of the day, does it really matter? Tricks aren't property, they aren't patented! So the more, the merrier, I say. One thing is for certain—only a small fraction of skateboarders will be pulling this one out of their bag of tricks on a random bowl session, you can bet that.

Take a look at Weslley's Instagram and you'll see that his page is full of gnarly, unique tricks that would shut down any demo. He's got a fire inside burning and burning, and it clearly funnels into his skating.
