Trick Tip

1. Start by watching Stevie Williams’ part in The DC Video. Learn how to pop switch heelflips. It also helps if your pants have a little sag to them.

2. Ride at a slight angle to the ledge and hit a switch heel, kinda like hitting a switch on my ’83 Regal. Make it flip a bit rocketed so you can put it into a five-0 easier.

3. At this point you should just be concentrating on the board traveling on top of the ledge. If it ain’t right, you ain’t tight–kick it away.

4. By the time you catch the board in this position, you want to be leaning back–like I lean back in the Regal cruising the strip with my brother Juan!

5. Place it down in five-0, and try to balance there. Anybody can do this trick scraping his or her tail, but it takes a true G to keep it only on the truck.

6. As you’re balancing, decide if you’re coming out 180, shove-it, or regs. Since this is just a Trick Tip, I’ll come out regs.

7. At the end of the ledge, you need to lift up a bit, or you’ll fall out and it’ll be whack. After you get this trick down, try popping out in the middle like my man Biebel. Holla.

8. Stay level over the board, and prepare yourself for the impact of skating super-high ledges like this one.

9. Boom! Have your feet over the bolts, and you’re all good. Put all four down and roll away.
