Every once in a while, Van Wastell's brother Eddie cuts up a bunch of classic Van clips for us all to enjoy. There's always a theme, which I love, and the latest in the mix is the Van Wastell Transition Files—just under six minutes of Van skating transition.
The cherry on top? We go all the way back to 1989 to see (what I believe is) Van's first drop in... all the way to 2008 when he was already our favorite skateboarder. This one rules! Take a look:
Different eras, different spots, different formats—all 100% Van. The influence he had on skating and so many humans is something to admire. He was a true original; the absolute coolest. And edits like this really hit close to home for all the folks who loved Van and his skating. I could watch this all day.
As mentioned, Van's brother Eddie has been piecing together Van edits for years now and we're so thankful for it. One of my all time favorites was the Van Wastell Backside Tailslide Compilation. Peep it above! Not only was Van one of the purist dudes to ever step foot on a board, but he had a damn good backside tailslide, too. Facts are facts!
Anyways... we miss you, Van. Thanks for all the years of stoke. And shoutout to Eddie for continuing to take the time to make these edits. They're always a breath of fresh air.
