Skating empty pools is one thing, but skating an empty mountain bike park in the woods of Frisco, Colorado, is certainly another. At first glance, this thing really just catches your attention and makes you wonder...Can you skate this? Don't think too hard. According to Cody Davis, the answer is yes.
Getting the right speed for something like this seems like it'd be difficult. It's like dropping into the mega ramp—once you start rolling, there's really no turning back. But he probably couldn't have done this any better.
One of the comments mentioned, "I saw David Gravette kickflip this then 360 this and he rode out into the dirt both times. Shit was insane." I can recall the same tricks from Gravette, but unfortunately couldn't find them anywhere. Regardless, this thing is a beast and any trick on it deserves a nod.
Besides the speed-control factor that I mentioned, it's definitely worth mentioning how sketchy the landing itself looks. It doesn't leave much room to hesitate, that's for sure. You have to be ready to risk it all and power through that soft dirt, or—sketchy in its own right—land as perfect as possible and quickly jump off your board before sprinting down the dirt mound like Cody. Whatever the choice, rolling away from this thing has to feel extremely rewarding.
Skateboarders are funny. We're just starving for anything new, fresh, weird or totally obscure to skate. And for good reason. More often than not, those are the tricks we never forget. Mission accomplished.
