Nardwuar the Human Serviette is one of those cultural figures who almost feels mythological at this point, if that makes sense. You don’t just watch a Nardwuar interview—you experience it. Those who know, know. Those who don't—start here. (But not just yet!)
The plaid hat, the frantic energy, the deep-cut trivia bombs he drops on the people he's interviewing like he’s somehow been studying their lives since birth… it’s all part of what makes him one of the most beloved (and rightfully bizarre) interviewers to ever point a microphone at someone. One of the best to ever do it, if you ask me.

For as long as I can personally recall, Nardwuar has operated on a completely different level than traditional journalists. While most folks just sort of skim the surface, the dude dives straight into the archives of an artist’s life—childhood memories, obscure bands they might've somewhere mentioned once, hyper-specific hometown memories. It's actually pretty unreal. Creepy, almost. But his guests always love it. And so do the listeners.
In fact, even some of the most straight-faced artists and entertainers end up cracking smiles when they realize he’s somehow uncovered a piece of their history no one else could’ve dug up. Hilarious.
Anyways, when Nike SB announced a Nardwuar Dunk earlier this year, it actually didn’t feel that random. Nike knows a thing or two about culture as well, and if anyone deserves a shoe, it’s the guy who’s spent his entire life digging through random subcultures and celebrating the weird corners of music that often get overlooked.
And let's be real—the shoe itself is basically Nardwuar in footwear form: it's loud, it's playful and it's loaded with personality. It looks like something only a dude like Nardwuar could pull off. No trend chasing. No nonsense. Just unapollogetticahlly Nardwuar.
What makes his Dunk so highly sought-after stems way beyond just the colors and materials, though. Nike SB collaborating with Nardwuar is a statement. And although I doubt the guy has ever stepped foot on a skateboard, this time around, it hardly matters.
He’s helped shape so many things that surround skateboarding—punk, hip-hop, underground music. You name it. And you certainly don't need me to tell you how skateboarding has always celebrated authenticity and originality, which are two words that easily describe Nardwuar. Call him a historian, a character, a connector—whatever! It just makes sense.
We saw a lot of Nike SB Dunk drops this year, and we'll see plenty more next year, but this one has really felt special. He's touring around the globe visiting skateshops, bringing that same energy from coast to coast, country to country. Lines out the door. Community gathering at its finest. And he seems to genuinely love it. Nardwuar is for the people!
The shoes sold out at skateshops all over the globe this past weekend, but it looks like Nardwuar and Nike SB have one more surprise for us. All I know is they've been encouraging folks to keep their eyes on Nardwuar's Instagram as there's been no official SNKRS release date for the US yet. So follow along and let's celebrate one of the heaviest Nike SB Dunk drops of the year. Doot doola doot doo... doot doo!
And if I were you, I'd hop on Nardwuar's YouTube page and take a trip down the rabbit hole. I promise you will not be disappointed.
