éS Pays Tribute to the VX1000 with Special Accel Colorway
Time for some more archive digging!
éS recently shared some photos of their latest Accel colorway celebrating (what I humbly consider) skateboarding's favorite video camera—the VX1000. As someone who grew up in the golden era of golden VX colors (and owned two myself), I can really appreciate the attention to detail here. Take a look:
"éS International Footwear was born in 1995. The very same year saw the birth of the most iconic camcorder in skateboard history. Used to film Menikmati and countless classics in the late 90s all the way through the 2010s, the camera holds as much significance as the legendary tricks it was used to document," éS mentioned in the caption of the post.
"Resurrected from the éS archives, this special colorway of the Accel OG celebrates the device that was in every skate filmer’s camera bag for the better part of two decades. Its legacy lives on through two-tone gray suede and canvas upper and color-popped eyelets inspired by RCA connector cables, with the camera’s silhouette embossed on the heel as the finishing touch."
Somewhat echoing what éS mentioned above, it is pretty crazy to think that this camera made such a significant impact on multiple generations of skateboarders, filmmakers and legendary skate videos alike.
So many iconic moments have been captured through the lens of VX1000s, often adorned with the infamous Death Lens, which truly made all the difference in the world. And the way the clips simply sounded...amazing.
Depending on your age, you saw the VX1000 come and go. But it wouldn't be fair to say it's actually gone these days. We still see more than a handful of modern VX projects that are constantly a sight for sore eyes. And the archive of legendary clips and videos are always worth a revisit all the same.
The shoes are available on the éS website and finer skate shops across the globe. Whether you're a die-hard VX1000 enthusiast, a fan of the brand, or simply just like this colorway, cop 'em while they're hot! I applaud the crew at éS for this one.
