Revisit Ben Kadow’s 'LurkNYC' Era: His Best Clips From 2013-2015
There was a small window in time where the man behind the LurkNYC lens, Nick von Werssowetz was contributing his bangin' 'Mean Streets' edits to the TWS site. I can remember the whole staff piling up in front of a random computer screen and peeping these raw street masterpieces.
So I'm stoked that he recently compiled these clips of Ben Kadow for us all to enjoy from that random little golden era of NYC street skating. Honestly, I forgot about a ton of these clips, so this was the perfect reminder! Press play:
We got a proper introduction to Ben and his skating in these edits, and it's cool to see how far he's come since. Not much has changed, at least in terms of Ben's originality (on and off the board). It wasn't a gimmick then, and it sure ain't one now!

If you haven't seen Kadow's new Epicly Later'd episode, you should definitely check it below. Ben's story is super inspiring and interesting. The dude is as real as it gets! And in a weird way, it made his skating—and his journey—make so much more sense.
He'll take the slams, he'll appreciate the session and he's worked super hard to get where he is today. The irony is that he never even expected any of it to happen! In his Epicly Later'd episode, he literally talks about how he didn't ever even want to be a pro skater—he just wanted to skate!
These days, we need more of that mindset in skateboarding. At least in my opinion. So many kids these days start skating with the thought of going pro and reaching fame in mind. Hey, whatever, that's fine... but it's not as authentic as those who are doing it simply for the love. Again, just my opinion.
At any rate, I'm super stoked to see this era of Ben. The dude is just a beast. A true original. And whether it's these old classic clips, anything new he's working on, or whatever in between, consider me a fan. Yeah, Ben!
