DGK Partners with Uganda Skateboard Community to Launch a Special Limited-Edition Deck
Stevie Williams and the good folks at DGK recently partnered with the Uganda Skateboard Community (USC) to create a limited-edition deck celebrating "the vibrant energy and talent of the kids of Mukono, Uganda."
Established in 2016, the USC started with no more than a modest little ramp and a big dream. Since then, it's become a symbol of hope and inspiration, driven by the passion of young skateboarders in and around the area. We all know the feeling! Pretty amazing stuff, if you ask me. Learn more below.
Spreading the stoke of skateboarding in Uganda!
Some of the key highlights of this collaboration are:
- Limited-Edition Skate Deck: Featuring imagery of the kids from the Uganda Skateboard Community, this exclusive deck celebrates their passion and resilience.
- Support for USC: A portion of royalties from each sale goes directly to the USC, helping fund the construction of more skateparks across Africa and providing opportunities for underserved youth.
- Availability: The deck will be available exclusively on DGK.com and at select skate shops globally.
"This project is more than just a skateboard," the official press release mentions. "It’s a celebration of the transformative power of skateboarding to unite, inspire, and uplift communities around the world."
We've seen glimpses of the Uganda Skateboarding Community over the years, and everyone from Tony Hawk to a handful of your favorite pros have made the trek out there to help inspire the kids in the area.
Skateboarding is such a powerful tool. The mental and physical health benefits alone are impossible to argue, but the way it creates positive, tight-knit communities across the globe has always been something that has attracted me personally.
Shoutout to Stevie Williams and DGK for doing their part and supporting the awesome, vibrant scene in Uganda. I love to see it.
