Erik Ellington Opens Up About Early Baker Days, Sobriety, and More on Living Proof Radio
Erik Ellington recently sat down with Living Proof Radio in NYC for an in-depth conversation covering everything from those glorious early days of Baker to his current journey into sobriety and so much more.
As a true skateboarding icon, Ellington has experienced the highs and lows of the wild skate world over the years and has come out the other side stronger than ever. Tune in to hear his fascinating story and insights on everything that's gone down the past decade-plus. This is one conversation you won't want to miss.
I don't know how old you are, but I grew up on Ellington, Reynolds, Baker, Deathwish, whatever... this, that and the other! Back then, we were also all just wild kids who saw skateboarding as a lawless, unfiltered lifestyle. I mean... it was! The energy was infectious. It was so real. And personally, I'll never regret any of those times.
But seeing the tables continue to turn, with so many iconic skateboarders now advocating for health, wellness, and generally a more balanced lifestyle, is pretty inspiring, to say the least. I'm just stoked to be here to see it all go down. It's inspiring, it's motivating... and I think it's super necessary all the same.
I'll tell you what—if you're a fan of Ellington, Baker, Deathwish... whatever! Hearing about how everything got started is always super humbling and in a way, relatable. If this stuff doesn't inspire you, that's on you. It's a great reminder that sometimes you need to leap before you look. Just focus on skateboarding, and all will be well. Hey, it's worked for them (and countless others)!
Just like Todd Francis mentioned in his Living Proof Radio (above), there aren't a whole lot of folks in skateboarding who can keep that gas in the tank forever, but some certainly can. Like Todd (and Julian, Cardiel, etc.) and Antihero, Reynolds and Baker, Ellington and Deathwish, Jamie and Zero... don't forget that these dudes are lifers and will continue to keep that flame sparked.
Anyways, just listen to the whole conversation. Thanks to Ellington and Living Proof for the insights. Love to see it.
