Watch: MemoryScreen edit of Sal Barbier and his Sal 23 Shoe by etnies
Sal Barbier's had the Midas touch in everything he does. As one of the most influential street skaters coming up in the H-Street world, to Plan B—everything he did made waves in the culture. His video parts, the clothes he wore, the music he skated to, his board graphics—he was just ahead of the curve on everything. It's no wonder he went on to found and design some of the most beloved brands in skating (Aesthetics, Elwood, etc.).
To celebrate éS rereleasing his ground-breaking Sal 23 shoe, Jan Maarten Sneep, aka MemoryScreen, has put together this epic look back at not only Sal's footage, but all the influential clips of pros rocking it. If you were skating in the 90s, you either had the Sal 23s, or you wanted them!
"To celebrate the re-issue of the Etnies Sal 23, I did this remix featuring: Sal Barbier, Donny Barley, Jahmal Williams, Kevin Taylor, Reese Forbes, Mike Maldonado, Satva Leung, Josh Kalis, Lavar McBride, Gabriel Rodriguez, Keenan Milton, Phil Shao, Paul Sharpe, Ronnie Creager, Jeremy Wray, Eric Koston, and Jamie Thomas Enjoy!"
Sal's Hokus Pokus footage laid over his Del song from Questionable is too sick. Best believe we've dug in with Sal and found out how much those royalties were on his best-selling, and most copied, shoe:
MemoryScreen has done all kinds of ill remixes. Try on Rick Howard's for size.
