Tony Hawk Hosts 'The Professor' at the Hawk's Nest for a Legendary Meet-Up
Worlds collide as Tony Hawk recently hosted streetball legend 'The Professor' for an afternoon of skateboarding and basketball at the Hawk's Nest. It's always fun to see legends in different subcultures hanging with each other and stepping outside of their comfort zone. And this link up was certainly no exception. Press play:
The title of the video, "I Showed Tony Hawk How to Break Ankles" is perfect if you ask me. I grew up watching all those AND1 streetball videos (right before skating started to fully consume my life) so The Professor has always been a familiar name to me. He's the best in the biz and still blows my mind with his talent.
Between his fear of sliding down the ramp and seeing The Birdman hoop around on the ramp, this is pure gold right here. And honestly, when The Professor passes the ball to Tony as he does that kick turn and makes the shot... dude, that's pretty gnarly if you really think about it. So rad.
Both legends in their own right, I always love it when stuff like this goes down. I know plenty of you might be thinking, "What does this have to do with skateboarding?" but in fairness, it is Tony Hawk we're talking about here—it always has to do with skateboarding when The Birdman is involved.
At any rate, it's also just a sign of the times. Things like YouTube and social media bring us all together in ways most of us probably couldn't have even imagined a decade or so ago, and this is a great example of that. There's probably more crossover out there than many of us even realize, to be honest. I'm certainly a fan of both.
