Asics Skateboarding continues to quietly build momentum in the skate shoe world with drops like this. The Black/Tan Presidio Japan Pro is hitting skateshops across the globe as we speak, and it's definitely one of the best colorways I've seen—in my humble opinion. Have you seen these? Take a look:

“The Japan Pro shoe is based on the Fabre Japan S basketball shoe from 1981 but is updated for today’s skateboarding standards,” the Asics site reads. “The upper is formed with leather paneling and triple-stitching on the heel and toe area to help improve durability. It also incorporates an elastic band and thicker tongue help create better comfort and a supportive fit.”
I say strong and subtle because as far as I'm concerned, that's exactly what the Japan Pro is. Don't let the minimalistic design fool you—these things are built for the streets and have been a staple in the Asics Skateboarding line since the brand launched. There's a reason we keep seeing new colorways season after season.
Asics has had one helluva year and I've been a huge fan of everything they've done. The team is growing. Their edits are dope. Their vibe is just rad. Low key. No bells and whistles, no nonsense. They just continue to do things right and we love to see it.
Look for the latest Japan Pro and all of Asics' recent offerings at your local shop. Can't wait to see what's in store for 2026.
