Eli Waterson might not be a household name in skateboarding quite yet, but I'd bet it all that this young Aussie prodigy will be within the next year or so. His new video part—shot by master lensman Geoff Campbell—blew my mind, to say the least. Where did this kid come from? Where has he been? How did he get this good?
With a solid chunk of guest clips from Chloe Covell, another Aussie ripper on the rise, this video part is a solid look at the future of Australian skateboarding. Both of them tackle some serious spots here and humbly boast their deep bags of tricks along the way. Again—mind blown. Press play:
Eli is getting hooked up by Real and Nike SB at the moment, which is pretty gnarly in itself. Think of how many of your favorite pros started out riding for some absolute stinkers. To be in the mix with brands like Real and Nike SB at such a young age says a lot. But once you see the bloody ripper skate, it's clearly well-deserved. No little kid points needed. Eli gets it.
It wouldn't be right to breeze past how gnarly Chloe is getting, though. She skates with so much power, it's clear she's gonna do big things. We know she can handle the pressure of contests, and has graced plenty of podiums, but seeing her get down in the streets really proves she's here to stay. How was that back Smith back 180 on that curved ledge? Such a G!
There must be something in the water out there in Aus, because these two are clearly on an absolute tear. There's so much talent oozing between them, it's actually kind of insane.
I mean, Eli switch 50-50'd Australia's famed Flinders Rail—a notoriously difficult spot to skate. That ain't no little kid move! That's real.
If you haven't yet, tap that play button and get humbled. We'll be seeing more of Eli (and Chloe) in the near future. I'm sure of it.
